Item Description

Filament Produced in Portugal.

As it is an extremely difficult material to manufacture in filament, the diameter is 1.60mm by 1.85mm with high deviation.

Watch the following video from Sam:

Thank you Sam for posting this video on youtube and share your experience!

It is a High Density Polyethylene:

Filament is extremely difficult to manufacture as it gradually shrinks after cooling. The softening temperature is between 110ºC and 130ºC.

For some projects it may be ideal, but it is the most difficult polymer to print as it shrinks very easily after the first layer, which implies a table at 100 or 110ºC. A diluted vinyl glue solution or a polypropylene board (some PP containers or CD covers) may solve the problem.

If you have never printed, before printing on HDPE you must use PLA or ABS.

This material is difficult to print and not recommended for beginners.

Do not touch the material after it has melted, this material maintains its temperature for longer, and touching this material while it is still hot can cause serious and deep burns!

Print settings may vary depending on the vendor. But if the material is not added, in general terms the temperatures work in a similar way.

Print Temperature: 200 to 250 ºC

Bed Temperature: 100 to 130 ºC

Print Speed: 20 mm/s

Cooling fan: at 100%.

For adhesion to the table, we apply PP packaging tape to the glass. in another test we used a PP plate from an old CD case.

In observation, the first test with the tape worked better as it transmitted heat better in the first layer. You can also print on paper or card.

Larger, longer objects will likely have more warping.
